Last week I was feeling a bit under the weather and this past weekend it got even worse. I don’t like having to go to the doctor but I found it absolutely necessary as my throat was killing me. I have had horrible allergies this year as I am sure many of us have. Well the doctor told me I had a virus and I was to stay confined to my home until the end of this week, the virus I have is apparently quite contagious. ugh! Unfortunately that meant bed rest and no school for me. Oh, I forgot to mention I started cosmetology school. Ah well I will chat more about that later.

Anyway in the midst of my bedrest, runny nose, watery eyes, incesient sneezing, coughing and whining from being so miserable. I decided that while the outdoors seem to be my worst enemy right now, (since I am literally allergic to it) I wandered out on my front porch to enjoy my spring flowers that are now settling nicely into their planters. I planted them the previous week, pre-sickness. It was nice to get out and enjoy some sunshine. Hope my neighbors didn’t mind my fuzzy pink robe, hair standing on end and the wad of tissues trailing behind me.

I love planting ground covers in pots and letting them grow over the edges and along the steps.

These will look lovely when they start hanging over the edge of the baskets. Not that they don’t look good now. They do add a nice touch to the front porch.

I am feeling a bit more like myself today. I have one day left on sick leave, per doctors orders and then I get to head back out into the world. And back to school. I hope I will feel up to working in my studio this weekend as well!

I have always lived by the saying “do what you love and love what you do”. As you all very well know I love sewing and creating things. And of course I love my yorkies. I have been creating a lot of outfits for them lately and I love doing it. It’s not that I don’t enjoy making handbags, I do, I just get so much more variety out of making clothes for my little ones. I can switch it, change it up a bit and thats exactly what I did. I have no doubt that adding variety into what I am working on will inspire my creative with my handbags and anything else I work, or so I hope.

I have been making little doggie “fashionista” clothes for a local boutique and have really enjoyed it. I decided to do something a little extra. In a few days my new website should be up. I named it

Lillitique

“A little fashion for little paws”

strawberry cupake

It’s all pink and very girly. Yes I make clothes for the boys too but I have always wanted a very girly, adorable boutique. So yes I did, I chose cupcakes as part of the design.

I can’t wait to show you all what I have been working on.

Have a wonderful day!

I have many addictions. Most of them come in the form of chocolate, yorkies, sewing, my favorite tv shows, books and of course magazines. I love looking through the pictures of Martha Stewart, Romantic Homes, and Real Simple. So when I was supposed to run to the grocery store for just a few items I knew it wouldn’t hurt to run down the magazine aisle for a nano second. Wooohooo I got the newest edition of Romantic Homes.

I just love looking at all the beautiful pictures. One of my favorite things is how they take a piece of furniture that someone would probably throw away because it is not very appealing and they put it as the center piece of the room.

IMG_4073

Adding a rug and throw pillows etc etc it makes the room look elegantly shabby chic. I love it! Makes me wish it was summer so I could go garage saleing!  I think magazines like this has totally enabled me to continue my craigslist addiction. ;)

Happy Sunday! Hope you are all relaxing! I am off to run some errands and then going to relax and watch some movies.

January 2nd, 2010

Last night I stayed up into the weeeee hours of the morning working on my little dog clothes. I don’t know what it is, actually I do. It’s Murphy’s law. It has to be. The later it gets, the more I want to get the project done and the more I forget or I mess things up so it ends up taking twice as long. I know valentines day is just around the corner and I really want to get some outfits done in time for that. I have some adorable yards of fabric that I just can’t wait to work with. With all the excitement I was even  more thrilled to have one of them completed at 2am this morning, I woke my oldest yorkie up so excited to try it on her…. yep didn’t work too well. Either my pattern shrunk or she has gained some weight :( I was laying her on her back, telling her to suck it in, tugging on the straps. Finally I gave up and went to bed. This morning I figured I could try it on her to try and get a photo…. before she eats breakfast and WAALLAA! It fit, ok barely but she didn’t have to move anywhere, or ok so she couldn’t move anywhere hahahah.

I suppose I need to adjust my pattern for her, so this will now be a puppy size. I put rhinestones on the colar and a felted hearts on the back. It is so adorable I can’t wait to make more.

She was such a good model, she just laid down and let me take my pictures. She is such a sweetie.

Well I am off to my nephews 1st birthday party  and then back home to work in the studio.

Have a wonderful day!

January 1st, 2010

I have a new addition to my family this new year. As many of you know I have two little yorkies, Lily who is 6 and Loki who is 2. They are 100% my children. They are my two little princesses. Well on January 20th I am getting a new addition. I am so excited…

bentley

I have named her Bentley and I cannot wait to snuggle with her! I wonder what my two girls are going to do? They are not very good at sharing. I am assuming there will be lots of treats and extra nights of sleeping with mom to make them not so jealous.

I am working on some tiny little outfits for her. She is barely over a pound right now and will only be about 3 full grown. Yes I know, I am making an outfit to bring her home in. What can I say… I love my little babies :)

Have a wonderful day

I guess my new years resolution should be to dust off this darn keyboard and keep up with my blog. I have made every attempt to post updates, I have plastered my home with post its, marked on calenders, wrote myself reminders and still my computer has been the white elephant in the room. Every time I have sat down to write something or post about something nothing comes. I read so many blogs, have great ideas about what to write about and I get all excited and ready to post and then it is as if I get stage fright when I sit down in front of my computer.

I am not sure that I believe in the whole “New Years Resolution” idea but if I did I guess this is my version. Tonight I finally decided to grab the bull by the horns and make a post. I can say… I feel better already. Oh how I have missed my blog. I guess when I didn’t write for a while it made it that much harder to get back in to the hang of it. Well here I am! And here I will stay :)

I have been sewing like crazy lately. With Christmas and such the studio was pretty busy. I also have recently started making my custom dog clothes again and a local groomer that just opened up a new shop has asked me to make items for her  :) It has been so much fun!

I have also had the chance to work on some personal items that I don’t normally take the time to make anymore. A while back I saw a fabric mod bracelet in a jewelry magazine and I just can’t wait to try one out. I saw this one over at Sewdarncute … I really think I am going to try one of these.

So I suppose my pledge for this new year is out with my old routine and in with the new one! I plan to manage my time better, make more time for my blog, make sewing time for personal items and have fun with my work that I love so much!

I hope you all have a wonderful and very safe New Years!

November 15th, 2009

I have been out of the studio for some time. Whew, times flies. Before I realized it I hadn’t been on here in months! It feels so amazing to be back, doing what I love. I am back in the studio and having a blast! I have been working on handbags and sewing various things. As well as making jewelry. But I have been branching out a little bit. I am playing with sterling silver wire A LOT! I tried my hand at making a bangle bracelet, and well it didn’t turn out to well. It wouldn’t stay on my wrist. So I unwound it, straightened it out best I could and decided to make a ring. I like this piece much better! It was so fun and “spontaneous” to make. I just did what I wanted and I love how it turned out!

I also made a pendant and then wrapped little peridot beads on it with sterling silver wire. I think it turned out really nice.

I really like how they turned out, bad thing is I ran out of wire hahaha. I placed an order and can’t wait for it to arrive!

Until then I think I am going to make some coasters. Fat Orange Cat has an amazing tutorial, I think I am gonna give it a try tonight. Ill post how they turn out :)

January 16th, 2009

I can’t believe I actually finished something! I didn’t get any of the throw pillows done, or get to play with my fabric. But I do however get one of my topiaries done! I have also been adding a whole bunch of stuff to my shop

Here is the topiary I finished yesterday…img_3691

January 15th, 2009

Today I am hoping to get back in the studio. The amount of housework needed to be done when you return from a trip is insane! Laundry, grocery shopping, bathing the dogs…etc etc.

Today I am hoping I can sneak away into my own little world and make some things!

Before I left I bought this lot of fabric. I forgot! It was a nice surprise to come home to! I just love the light pastels.

I am wanting to get these two projects finished. I appliqued the shoe and silhouette on them before we left. They are throw pillows.

I am crossing my fingers that I am productive today ;)

Home at last. You never sleep in your bed like you do when you just return from a long trip. I think I was out before my head it the pillow! Or maybe before I even hit the bed hahahah.

One of my favorite things about going on a trip is returning home to check the mail. I LOVE getting mail, not bills though!

Of course while I was away one of my favorite magazines came, Victorian Trading Co. I just love to drool over every page! It is seriously like chocolate for me.

Here are some of my favorite inspirations from the Valentines issue…

rose-light-garland

isn’t this rose garland gorgeous! I am thinking I will have to get me a set of these!

postscript-scarf

I just love this scarf too and it’s silk!

postscript-mouse-pag

what an adorable mouse pad! Don’t you think?

post-pillow

love it love it love it!

breeze-bells

Birdy breeze bells…. LOVE IT!

mouse-door

This is my very favorite! I will be ordering this for sure. This is one of those items I would love to have in every room. It goes with my whole blending of reality and fantasy, it encourages your imagination and I LOVE that!

I hope you are all having a wonderful day. I am watching Harry Potter, doing laundry and catching up on housework.

I found this while I was tidying up. See I have to hide these things around the house for rainy days..

Hey it’s ok, it says it’s a balanced meal.. just don’t read the fine print: Premium Milk Choclate ;)
