During my recent visit back home to Washington I had a few requests. My two little sisters asked me to make them each a handbag. It is still a work in progress, but I think it looks close to what she asked for. I think it is turning out better than I thought, who knows I may just keep it for myself ;)

I apologize for the not so great photo, I had to use my camera phone as I left my digital on and it killed my battery…. ooops.

I looked at a few images of shoes and then created my version out of felt. I stitched it in place and then went back and added some decorative stitching to create more of the image. I made the laces out of ribbon and added the snaps just because I thought they were cute and added a nice touch.

I have a stock pile of felt in my studio and have had no idea what to really do with it until now. This book caught my eye and I knew the perfect place for it was in my studio putting all that stock piled felt to work.

The little felties in this book are adorable and I can’t wait to try them out!

I also happened across this blog MmmCrafts,  that has some amazing tutorials. I can’t wait to try them out either.

Ooooh if there were only more hours in a day I would have it made. Literally I would have a lot more things made in the studio hahahah

I have been working away in the yard, planting, transplanting, mowing etc. When I get a moment I have been up in the studio working on some new handbags and finally got them into the shop today. Here are a few that I just added.

I always say that I am going to keep up with things, ie posting, sewing, creating but like my mother always says…. I just kind of fly off the cuff. So maybe this time if I don’t say it then maybe I’ll be consistent ;)

Today as I was out watering my plants and it felt as though I was being watched. I looked over and it turns out I was. I had a visitor.

He instantly reminded me of when I was younger and I was obsessed with the Peter Rabbit books. Lucky for this guy, he wasn’t in Mr. McGregor’s garden. I don’t mind him, I actually enjoy his company.

The flowers are blooming beautifully, this is the first time I have been able to get my hydranga pink…

I just can’t believe it. But who knows, it still early hahah.

I stopped by the local nursery the other day and picked up some herbs as well as some beautiful aged terra cotta pots. I set a up a little herb garden on the front porch. The fragrance is amazing.

Last night after dinner I decided to get comfy and watch some tv. Now this is rare for me since usually I am keeping busy with school or in my studio, which by the way is a mess. The zipper bag has managed to get itself buried due to frustrating me. Well so I got all comfy and turned on the food network which was featuring the pie baking competition. Next thing you know I’m off the couch and headed to the store to make a pie of my very own. It reminded me of when I was little and my grandmother and I used to make the pies from cherries we handpicked from the tree in the yard. It was so much fun, baking and thinking of her. And the pie turned out delicious!

I have wanted to try to make a handbag with a top zipper closure, but honestly I have been avoiding it. I am all for trying new things, but for some reason I just never did with this. I don’t know if it was something in the air or what but I did it. I bought my zippers, picked out some fabric, came home and went to work. I had planned on finishing it tonight. However after school and allergy testing (which by the way I need to live in a glass bubble) I am so exhausted. I got some of it done and hopefully I will finish it tomorrow. That is, if I can manage to pull off installing the whole top zipper thing. Wish me luck…

I am really liking this bag, I love the pleats. Ill love it even more if I can manage to finish it ;)

I am working a couple of handbags and a few more dresses. I can’t wait to post them. I am trying my hand at making my own buttons. Ill let you know how they turn out :)

I mentioned a while back that I was working once again on making little dog clothes. Although my little ones are spoiled beyond belief and have more clothes than me, they seem to pout whenever I dress them up! What fun is that? I still do it, they just look so adorable. Anyhoo I just wanted to share my lastest little spring dress that I finsihed up. Under the large skirt it has a smaller one thats green with polka dots just to add a little extra something.

I just love it! I put it up in the Shop for sale.

Have a wonderful day.

My Mother absolutely adores everything giraffe, and for quit some time she has been asking for me to make her one of my handbags. I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to do just that. Here is what I made for my amazing Mother, I think it fits her personality perfectly. I hope she loves it.

Of course I couldn’t help but to get her a few extra things as well.  She has this beautiful little garden complete with a little pond with a small waterfall, and gorgeous statues surrounded by overflowing plants. I thought this would be a wonderful addition:

And last but not least I got her this little charm of a necklace, just because.

This is the front

and this is the back.

I love it because no matter how far apart we may live, we are always side by side.

Have a wonderful day!

Last week I was feeling a bit under the weather and this past weekend it got even worse. I don’t like having to go to the doctor but I found it absolutely necessary as my throat was killing me. I have had horrible allergies this year as I am sure many of us have. Well the doctor told me I had a virus and I was to stay confined to my home until the end of this week, the virus I have is apparently quite contagious. ugh! Unfortunately that meant bed rest and no school for me. Oh, I forgot to mention I started cosmetology school. Ah well I will chat more about that later.

Anyway in the midst of my bedrest, runny nose, watery eyes, incesient sneezing, coughing and whining from being so miserable. I decided that while the outdoors seem to be my worst enemy right now, (since I am literally allergic to it) I wandered out on my front porch to enjoy my spring flowers that are now settling nicely into their planters. I planted them the previous week, pre-sickness. It was nice to get out and enjoy some sunshine. Hope my neighbors didn’t mind my fuzzy pink robe, hair standing on end and the wad of tissues trailing behind me.

I love planting ground covers in pots and letting them grow over the edges and along the steps.

These will look lovely when they start hanging over the edge of the baskets. Not that they don’t look good now. They do add a nice touch to the front porch.

I am feeling a bit more like myself today. I have one day left on sick leave, per doctors orders and then I get to head back out into the world. And back to school. I hope I will feel up to working in my studio this weekend as well!
